South African company, Sam Hospitality has been contracted to train Foxes Safari Camps staff in Tanzania. Foxes Safari Camps consists of 1 remote island lodge and 5 safari lodges and camps. Lazy Lagoon Island Lodge is based in Bagamoyo, Ruaha River Lodge is based in Ruaha National Park, Rufiji River Camp is based in Selous Game Reserve, Vuma Hills Tented Camp is based in Mikumi National Park, Mufindi Highlands Lodge is based in Mufindi and Katavi Wildlife Camp is based in Katavi National Park. The scope of the training includes service excellence to all guest contact staff hosts training for front office staff, housekeeping training and front of house training for waiters and bartenders.
The training is aimed at improve service standards at all the lodges and is conducted every 6 months. The lodges attract both local, regional and international tourists from all over the world.
Tourist numbers are picking up in Tanzania. According to Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics, during the period of January to August 2023, international arrivals increased to 1 131 286 compared to 900 182 during the same period in 2022, and increase of 231 104 visitors which is a good 25.7%. This is a major boost for the tourism and hospitality industry in the country. Tanzania is home to many national parks and game reserves, which consists of the Big 5 and many bird species roaming freely.
Tanzania is an attractive safari destination mainly for its diverse landscape. During the period of January to August 2023, majority of arrivals came from United States of America with 84 541 visitors, followed by France (72 009), Germany (57 798), United Kingdom (51,505) and Italy (51 056). Meanwhile, for the month of August 2023, majority of arrivals came from Italy (14 986), United States of America (14 416), France (11 997), United Kingdom (9 852) and Germany (9 161).
Tourism sector is fast growing and is among major sources of foreign exchange in Tanzania. Therefore, it is imperative for service providers to offer quality services to attract more visitors not only first-time arrivals but also maintaining repeat arrivals. These figures may change from time to time as new data is received.
